London-based SKL Robotics Ltd., trading as Humanoid, closed a $152 million funding round on July 21, 2026, pushing its post-money valuation to $1.35 billion. Prime Movers Lab led the round, with Schaeffler, Bosch, Fubon Financial Holding Venture Capital, and Aglaé Ventures also participating. Founded in 2024, the company makes the HMND-01 Alpha family of industrial humanoids in both wheeled and bipedal configurations. In May 2026, Schaeffler signed a binding commercial rollout to deploy between 1,000 and 2,000 wheeled units across its facilities by 2032. Bosch will serve as contract manufacturer while providing hardware design and supply chain consulting.

The strategic weight here sits with the investor composition, not the valuation number. Schaeffler and Bosch are not passive financial backers; they are anchor customers and manufacturing partners simultaneously. That structure compresses the path from prototype to production in a way that pure venture funding cannot. It also shifts the competitive pressure on Tesla's Optimus program, Figure AI's BMW pilot, Agility Robotics' Amazon deployment, and Apptronik's Mercedes-Benz collaboration. Each of those programs is racing toward the same factory floor. Humanoid now enters that race with committed offtake from a Fortune 500 manufacturer and a Tier 1 automotive supplier as its production partner, which is a materially different position than a pilot agreement.

The "shared brain" software layer, called KinetIQ, is worth tracking separately. It orchestrates task handoffs across robot fleets rather than treating each unit as a standalone machine. If that coordination layer matures, it becomes a software moat that hardware-first competitors cannot copy quickly. Watch whether Humanoid licenses KinetIQ to third-party robot makers or keeps it proprietary; that decision will define whether the company is building a robotics OEM or a physical-AI platform.
